The war negatively affected her mental health. Today, Walaa from Syria is feeling better thanks our support

Over 6 million people have fled their homes due of the war in Syria, which has been going on for more than 13 years. Walaa and her two daughters have suffered the same fate. Shelling has driven them from their rural home to a refugee camp where they live in bad conditions. This has negatively affected Walaa's physical and mental health. That is why Caritas Czech Republic offered her a helping hand to feel like herself again.

Thirteen years of war and last year's earthquake have left Syria in a difficult situation. Together with local residents and organisations, we support Syrians in starting their own businesses to revive the local economy. One of the people we supported is Mohammad, who received a grant from us and open his own poultry farm.

Refugees, despite many prejudices, do not wait with their hand out for help, but instead want to work, study and stand on their own two feet. But they need support at the beginning to succeed. Caritas Czech Republic is helping them to do just that.
