The year 2024 brought many challenges to the world, but it also showed the power of solidarity and commitment to help where it is needed most. We helped civilians affected by the war in Gaza, supported farmers in Zambia battling the effects of climate change and played our part in rebuilding livelihoods in war-torn Ukraine. Caritas Czech Republic provides food aid to more than 10,000 families in Syria

After nearly 14 years of war, the situation in Syria is undergoing dramatic changes. The fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime has brought hope for a better future to many Syrians but also presents new challenges. Millions of people lack basic necessities such as access to food, clean water, and shelter. Caritas Czech Republic, along with local partners, is working intensively to mitigate the consequences of this crisis.

In spite of the challenging environment of Syria, Maryam, a 12-year-old from Jeb Al Dam, remains determined to pursue her education and dreams of becoming a teacher. She hopes to be a part of the movement to rebuild her country after thirteen years of conflict and last year's earthquake have left all of Syria struggling, with millions in need of humanitarian aid.
